Jeremiah 1:4-5 ESV Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying, (5) “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

A nation cannot defy God’s Word indefinitely without experiencing His wrath. Only someone blind to His truth will fail to see that our nation is increasingly receiving His judgments for longstanding, unrepentant wickedness of all kinds.

One of the chief evils that has been prevalent in this country for decades now is the killing of babies. Killing them in the womb. The thing has been sanitized of course – it is a mere “procedure.” But I suspect that if people had to stand and witness what actually goes on in these “procedures,” they would throw up, pass out, or flee the room. It is amazing that the people who perform these murders have grown so callous to it that they can go to work everyday, fooling themselves I suppose with the lie that they are “helping” their patients.

The idea in all this wickedness is that somehow as long as a baby is in the womb, “it” is an “it.” A non-human. A non-person.

God sees it quite differently.

Look again at the text from Jeremiah-

Jeremiah 1:4-5 ESV Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying, (5) “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

You really don’t need any other statement from God to understand. God “formed” Jeremiah in the womb. GOD formed Jeremiah in the womb, just as He forms ALL of us in the womb. Yes, father and mother played a role of course, but have you ever paused to wonder just how that egg and sperm become…you? Sure, DNA and all that. But who is the conductor of this orchestra? The Bible tells us plainly – it is God.

Luke 1:13-15 ESV But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. (14) And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, (15) for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.

We really are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God is our Maker. God knew Jeremiah even before he was conceived, just as God knew John the Baptist and filled John with His Spirit, while John was still in his mother’s womb.Does God fill a non-person mass of tissue with the Holy Spirit? Of course not.

Therefore, when a baby is murdered in the womb. a person known by God, named by God, whose life has been planned by God, is murdered. There is blood on the hands of this nation and you can be sure that God is going to avenge it.
