The Idea: The question is a spiritual question. The world is concerned about misery, dying, comfortableness, and they want something to alleviate the uncomforting and anxiety (carnally) and they have "treatment" for all of these comforts or are trying to find them. For all of these comforts we have something far deeper in mind. "Comfort ye comfort ye my people....her warfare has been accomplished." This is the comfort of the child of God. Living and dying to the child of God is one in the same! To live apart from God IS DEATH. When we ask the question about our comfort we are talking about the ROOT of the matter (sin) NOT the consequences of sin. The comfort we have is that they have been forgiven in CHRIST!

Content: We find our comfort in the living God alone! Both body and soul we belong to Him! Note that both are intimately connected unlike the world who separates and takes one without the other and do not understand that depth of death in turn focusing on life (which is nothing but continual death.) We too are now subject to time and space and so need this comfort in living and dying. That comfort is Christ! We are free from the wrath and indignation of God because Christ has paid the debt! We are free! And we have the comfort that the very reason for death has been taken away! We do not have to be afraid because all these things are in the hands of the Almighty Lord and He works it all for my good and eternal salvation! All things to me are of God and He gives grace sufficient ALWAYS! He bought me..for time and eternity and ALL things belong to me in Christ! What more of a comfort do YOU need?

Scope: And He will give us everything we need. He is our SINGULAR comfort and we need nothing more and nothing more is to be had! It envelops our whole entire life and there is nothing in this life that we are comforted by. He freely gives us all things in Christ!

There is no other assurance we need than this Lord's day. No other comfort. I have everything in my Lord Jesus Christ and I have nothing to fear! Nothing!
