"God's perception of us" Numbers 23:21 A new testament parallel to this chapter would be Romans chapter 8. No condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. What we have in this historical even. The Lord placed in the mouth of the prophet so that he could not curse, but had to bless the people of God. And, regardless of what we have see in ourselves often times we are justified and no one can condemn us as we are seen by God only and always in His Son!
Amazing: We can consider many....Miriam, Aaron, Moses, Joseph, and more. In the passing of these saints and notables God brings to the fore this history and the picture that Jacob's people are a particular, sinful people...miserable people who have nevertheless been blessed by God! Balak also hires Balaam to curse God's people and when he is on the mountaintop God puts in his mouth an amazing confession. "Beholds no iniquity and He sees no perverseness in Israel!" A sinful people whom God saw no sinfulness and therefore no misery in. And do we see the same thing in ourselves? We were in the bondage of Egypt...we murmured and complain with Israel, yet God says "no perverseness...no iniquity!"
Gracious: A picture of sin, bondage, and redemption! God has brought and wrought His people out of the bondage house of Egypt and sin and the "shout of the King is with them!" He moves from the earthly to the heavenly Kingdom and the shout is the GOSPEL! The promise that was with them, the blood on their door posts...it was Christmas! A King was among them! A miserable people, but see what God has done for us! What has He wrought? All our sins and iniquities have been taken away. Far away even though we are grievous sinners!
Comfort: We are saved in HIS BLOOD! We have sin..oh yes we have sin. It is inherited. We also have actual sin and yet.....He has redeemed us and set us at liberty and made us partakers in the shout of the King. Wonderful beyond compare and we take hold of by faith and we eat and drink and partake and experience this do we not?
We are JUSTIFIED. He beholds no sin, no iniquity, no perverseness in us His people!
Do we now walk a new, sanctified, holy life in gratitude to Him?!
