Scripture teaches that the change that remakes us begins when God Himself moves to make us new. He puts a new spirit within us, replacing our heart of stone. He makes us see the world through new eyes, He makes us see our sin and rebellion through eyes that love HIM. When this happens the result is repentance. We turn from our sin, from our evil, from our wickedness and we begin to follow after God... note that this is the RESULT of regeneration, not its cause. It is the act of God's power that makes us new, gives us a new heart and makes us love Him more than we love anything else. It is God who makes us His own children. It is God who makes us alive. It is God who makes us righteous. This, beloved, is the miraculous work of grace. This, precious child, is the outpouring of God's mercy and love. This, beloved of the Most High, is nothing we deserve, nothing we earn, nothing that we could ever be worthy of... and yet, it is given to us freely and eternally because it pleased Him to love. Let your praise and worship resound through the cosmos, mix your heart's cry of love and devotion with the song of heaven, and rejoice in the God who made you whole!!!
