Behold, one will come up like a lion
from the thickets of the Jordan to the watered pasture.
For in an instant I will chase Babylon from her land.
Who is the chosen one I will appoint for this?
For who is like Me, and who can challenge Me?
What shepherd can stand against Me?” vs44
It is futile to fight God. Therefore, bow to Him now. He will pour out His wrath and show His displeasure. He will punish His foes.
First, God cannot be stopped! No one can stand against Him - no power, might, or wisdom. There is nothing that man can do. He will destroy us, outsmart us, and prove Himself too strong for His enemies.
He sits in the heavens now, laughing in mockery at all opposition.
The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord taunts them.
Then He rebukes them in His anger,
and terrifies them in His fury: [Ps 2:4-6]
He is the God who predestinates, so even the betrayal and murder of His Son is part of the plan [Acts 2:23]. He uses Satan to defeat Satan, destroys the fear of death by bearing death, and then rules over the thoughts and movements of His foes. Who can resist Him or stay His hand [Dan 4:35]? He humbles kings and overthrows nations! He is the Mighty God to be feared.
Men take Him lightly and regard Him as helpless, lenient, and toothless. However, He is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. He arises to destroy, and His destruction is EVERLASTING HELL. Fear Him, all you people [Matt 10:28]!
Secondly, God is merciful! The destruction of Babylon brought deliverance to His elect, and it is the same today: When the wicked are punished, then the righteous rejoice.
Rev 19:1-3, After these things I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, “Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power belong to the Lord our God! For true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication; and He has avenged on her the blood of His servants shed by her.” Again they said, “Alleluia! Her smoke rises up forever and ever!”
When hell overflows, the smoke will praise God, and the saints will rejoice, shouting Hallelujah! He puts down one to lift up another, defeats Hamaan to exalt Mordecai, and He makes His enemies bow to the victorious Lamb.
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” [Phil 2:10-11]
Fear Him with love, all you saints [Rev 19:5]. He has predestined and redeemed you! He loves you, but don’t forget His character. Rejoice with trembling and serve the Lord with fear [Ps 2:11]. Reverence Him and His commands. Cleave close in temptation, lest He hide His face and disturb you. He is wonderfully merciful, but He is a consuming fire [Heb 12:29]. Look to Him for strength, return in repentance, and walk by faith. He is a Deliverer.
Thirdly, wrath is great, so help others! Warn them of the fierceness of what’s coming. Consecrate yourself to Christ and get the gospel out! It is time to preach to this dying world.
Covid-19 has opened the door! Prosperity preachers are unmasked as frauds and hypocrites: they cannot deliver! All the boasting about “declaring and decreeing” is obviously vain. We, however, have the true gospel, and we preach the kingdom that’s not of this world.
Do not give in to conspiracy theories. The Apostles didn’t waste their time on the inner workings of Rome! They came to preach the gospel, no matter the political wheeling and dealing of sinners. They preached Christ, because the master deceiver is after souls!
“Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.” [2 Cor 4:4]
This is the conspiracy: it is against God, blinding people not to believe the gospel, hiding the light of His knowledge, and using conspiracy theories to distract and divide us. Do not take the bait. Preach Christ, not politics or pandemics. Preach the Son of God. Men are going to hell, and we must deliver them: God uses us to proclaim, to warn, and to draw His elect from bondage!
Finally, Babylon’s destruction is our salvation, but it is also the fierce punishment of His foes: Repent and believe the gospel!
