I just wanted to review some of the key points from yesterday's message from Philippians 4:4, "Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say, rejoice."
It is possible (and optimal) for the believer to have joy in Christ even during affliction. Joy is often mixed with trouble, sadness, pain and burdens. True joy is centered in Jesus Christ. Philippians 3 exhorts us to joy because of the perfect righteousness that is found in Him. Being justified before the bar of Heaven's justice is always reason to rejoice. What are some hindrances to our joy? Lack of Focus on Christ Basing joy on our circumstances Selfishness An over-focus on our own sins An over-focus on the evils of this fallen world. Finally, according to Philippians 4:10, Paul had joy in seeing God work fruits of righteousness in the Philippian saints. May the Lord so work in us that our lives would be a source joy to our brothers and sisters in Christ. And may we have the joy of seeing His work in others.
