With all the bad things spreading lately, like viruses, diseases, rumors, and unrest, it is good to know one thing spreads for good. It is the Word of God.
When Paul was chained in prison he could rejoice that
The Word of God is not chained (2 Timothy 2:9).
Though the people of God in our day and world are restricted in their movements and in their assemblings together, the Word of God has free course.
God’s Word simply will not be ruled out, kept out, quarantined, or silenced.
For God, we should remember, is on a mission with that Word, and the Word will accomplish His mission, His purpose (Isaiah 55: 10, 11).
And what is God’s purpose with His Word?
It is to judge the nations in their sin and obstinacy till the land is utterly desolate, the Lord has removed men far away, and the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land (Isaiah 6: 11, 12).
It is to save sinners from the plague of their sin (Matthew 9:13).
It is so that the Christ of God’s eternal plan in creation and cross, Who is God’s Judging Word and God’s Savior Word, might have the preeminence (Colossians 1: 15-20).
May that Word of God, that Word Jesus Christ, dwell in you richly, and spread through you and sound forth from you for His praise.
For such a time as this.
