Let us see from Scripture that God sends suffering and struggle, including coronavirus, to teach us about Himself. Close to 100 times, God says that He did something so that they may know that I am the Lord. Here are a few instances of this:
The book of Exodus tells us in many places that the Lord delivered Israel from Egypt to show Egypt and Israel that He is God.
Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations
On Mt. Carmel Elijah prayed that God would send fire on his sacrifice for this reason: "let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel..." (1 Kings 18:36).
Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God."
Take some time to think of other examples of this.
God is teaching us about Himself so that He is exalted. Psalm 46:10 says, "Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." As we learn more about Him, may we exalt Him!
God is teaching us about Himself so that we trust in Him alone. Psalm 9:10 says, "And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee." May we, in all of the uncertainty of our lives, learn to trust in Him alone (Proverbs 3:5, 6; Psalm 56:3 - "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee." When we trust in Him, He is exalted.
