“We preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.” 2 Corinthians 4:5
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. Psalm 33:18-22
PASTOR’S NOTE We welcome David Robinette into our church fellowship upon his profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by believer’s baptism.
HONESTY A MUST I must be honest before God - I am a sinner always in need of His mercy and saving grace.God will meet me where the truth is and nowhere else.I may deceive men, for they look on the outward flesh, but God is not deceived, He looks on the heart! If I confess my sins, He will forgive my sins.If I judge myself, I shall not be judged. If I deal TRUTHFULLY with God, He will, in Christ, deal mercifully with me.Hypocrisy in any area of life is foolish, but hypocrisy before God is FATAL."If we say we have no sin we are deceived - if we say we have not sinned, wemake God a liar!"What folly to play the PIOUS ONE in the presence of OMNISCIENCE!Is it not better to stand with the publican and cry, "God be merciful to me, the sinner?"Is it not better to weep with the harlot at His feet and rise forgiven, than to sit with Simon in the seat of Phariseeism and perish? Pulled Into The Ark “….then He (Noah) put forth his hand and took her (dove), and pulled her in unto him into the ark”(Genesis 8:9) Now this little part of a verse stuck fast in my heart so that I could not read any further in this eighth chapter. What a pure and lovely illustration of the absolute free and sovereign grace of God lay before me. Much to my delight and comfort the marginal reading is: “..and he caused her to come unto him.” Oh blessed and potent language of holy writ; My God through the blood of the everlasting covenant by the quickening work of the Holy Spirit has caused me to come unto Him and in this causing I will in no wise be cast out, ever! This then is the sure and steady word of scripture; David used such language as He ‘fetched’ poor and unworthy Mephibosheth and caused this one to come unto the King. Our Lord spoke the language as He said in John 6; ‘all that the father giveth me shall come to me’. Our condescending Redeemer also spoke such grand and humbling words in one of His parables; ‘what man of you having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness and go after that which is lost until he find it? And when he hath found it he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing!’ And if these passages have not gotten under your skin, next to your heart and filled you with adoration and delight look at this in closing: “He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young” (Is. 40:11).Thank you oh Father, bless you oh Christ, we adore you oh Spirit; for taking such sinners and pulling us unto you into your all-sufficient Ark.Drew Dietz, Pastor, Jackson, Mo
ONE THING I KNOW ... one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see." John 9:25 When do you suppose this man became convinced that he was blind? The Scriptures declare that he was born blind; I have no doubt that his parents told him he was blind; I am quite sure that he gave mental ascent to the fact that he was blind. But to this man, all this is just so many words. How can you explain sight to one who has never seen? You can speak of light, color, shape and motion, but he has no basis of comparison, all he knows is darkness! But, when the Lord Jesus gave him sight, no one will ever be able to convince him that he was not blind, for now he can SEE! He KNOWS he was blind because he can see. In like manner we are born spiritually blind and dead. The Scriptures declare it is so; God’s preachers proclaim it is so; we may even give mental ascent that it is so. But, when Christ Jesus gives light and life, we KNOW it is so! Every believer, like this man who was blind, knows what he was saved from and he knows Who saved him. And like this man, they worship HIM! Pastor Charles Pennington
"CHRIST DID NOT DIE IN VAIN" There stands the cross of our crucified Lord, free to all who will look and be saved. But Almighty God has determined that He shall not have died in vain. There is a number, which no man can number, who shall, by His all-constraining grace, be brought to look to the blessed Redeemer and cling to Him as the hope of their souls. "He shall see of the travail of His soul and be satisfied," because God will, in the day of His power', make them willing to embrace, Christ Jesus. They are hardened in sin, but He can break their hearts; they are stubborn, but He can bend their knees; they will not come, but He can make them run to Christ willingly; He has the key that can wind up the human heart and make it run at His pleasure! When a man does wrong, it is because God has left him to himself; but as sure as a man DOES ANYTHING GOOD (especially believing truth), it is because the hand of the Master is upon him. The work of redemption is of our Lord in the planning, the procuring, the applying, and the maintaining of it. Leave a believer to himself to maintain the grace begun in him and he will fall (Phil. 1:6).C.H .Spurgeon (1836-1892)
