Perhaps we do not think enough about the ministry of angels. We forget about these protectors that the Lord hedges His people about with. Psalms 34:7, “The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.” God’s power is in itself all sufficient, but He is pleased to employ His ministering spirits in our welfare and well being, (Hebrews 1:14). The enemies of God’s people are numerous and often mighty. Let us not forget however that the angels of God are beyond number, that they greatly excel in strength and that they ever stand ready to await that Divine charge and come to the help of God’s people. Psalm 103:20, “Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.”

Do you feel overwhelmed by the multitudes of the ungodly? Do you feel alone and vulnerable? Perhaps you need to pray for yourself something like Elisha prayed for his servant. “LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha” (2 Kings 6:17).
