“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
(Psalm 133:1)
There is nothing more pleasant on earth than when brethren enjoy true fellowship together. There is a deep union that is understood, and felt between them. That union is stronger than any other worldly union that exists. And every brother and sister who experiences it knows exactly what it is (or rather WHO it is) that binds them together. It’s Christ! God’s people dwell together in Christ. They dwell together in His Word. They dwell together in His worship. They dwell together in His mercy and His grace. They dwell together in His Blood. Their dwelling is a safe dwelling. Their dwelling is a happy and content dwelling. They dwell in comfort. They dwell in peace and love. And it’s all because they dwell in Christ. They dwell in a Person!
He was not ashamed to call us brethren, and joined Himself to us; therefore we have the great privilege of being joined together with Him, claiming Him as our Elder Brother. “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together”… in the “unity” and Person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
