The Joy and blessing of a
Working\Gospel Labouring Church

{Original outline by Nigel Lacey}

Reading 1 Cor. 15: 50—58

Illustration

William Tyndale translating the word LABOUR

Service or work or even toil was not a strong enough word.

G2873 κόπος kopos kop'-os
From G2875; a cut, that is, (by analogy) toil (as reducing the strength), literally or figuratively; by implication pains: - labour, + trouble, weariness.

-------------------------

“The Church is not just a Pulpit” Peter Masters

--------------------------

We want to look at the benefits, we receive, of Labour in the Kingdom of God and the Church of Jesus Christ.

----------------------

1. The Working\Gospel Labouring Church rejoices as it shares in the Lord’s work.

Read Luke 24: 46-53

Verse 52 “Great Joy”

Great = GK = Megas

From which we get the word Mega!

Someone has said;

“Joy is the byproduct of obedience.”

-----------------------------------

2. There is the special joy of seeing sinners saved and backsliders brought back into fellowship with the Lord.

Read Luke 15: 1-7

“Joy in Heaven”

Is it not amazing to think that something that happens on earth can cause joy in heaven!

-------------------------------------

3. Gospel Labour in the Assembly leads to a sense of the Importance of the local church.

Read Psalm 87

What are some of the Glorious things?

Read Isaiah 60: 1-5

--------------------------------------

4. The Working\Gospel labouring Church will find its prayer meeting greatly blessed.

Acts 4: 23-31

Note, for the first time the church understood the import of psalm 2.

-----------------------------------------

5. The working\gospel labouring church will inevitably have a greater hunger for the word of God.

Acts 2:41-42

Personal illustration.

At a time when I had lost the desire for the word. Mick said don’t just sit around keep on going and the desire will come back.

--------------------------------------

6. The working church will be blessed with a rising generation of faithful believers.

Often what turns the young away is that they do not see real life or activity in the church.

Read psalm 127: 3-5

----------------------------------

7. The working church will enjoy sweet fellowship in its meetings.

Acts 2: 43-47

------------------------------------

8. The working church by its very nature will set itself apart from compromising and worldly churches.

Read 2 Cor. 6: 14-18.

----------------------------------------

9. The working Church discovers the joy of exercising and growing in her faith in Christ!

Read 1 Thess 1: 3-8

-------------------------------------

10. The Labouring church by its very activity trains and teaches people how to preach Christ to the world.

Read Phillipians 1: 12-14

-------------------------------------

11. The truly Labouring church may well have the privilege of suffering persecution for the cause of Christ.

Read Matt 5: 10-12

--------------------------------------

12. The Labouring church has the immense joy of seeing Christ formed in its members. {Trials which will attend the work of a biblically working church will see Christ manifested in its people}

Read 1 Peter 1: 3-7

-------------------------------------

13. The labouring church performs its service as an act of worship to its Saviour.

Read 1 Cor. 10:31

-----------------------------------
