Without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh,
justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached unto the Gentiles,
believed on in the world, received up into glory.
1 Timothy 3:16

To Christ be the Glory!
Author: Joseph Swain Tune: Tune: Doxology
1. To Him who found us dead in sin,
And planted holy life within;
To Him that taught our feet the way,
From endless night to endless day.
2. To Him that wrought our righteousness,
And sanctified us by His grace;
To Him that brought us back to God;
Through the red sea of His own blood.
3. To Him who suffered on the tree,
Blessings, and praise, and glory be,
To cleanse from every sinful stain,
“Worthy the Lamb, for He was slain.”
4. To Him that sits upon the throne,
The great eternal Three-In-One,
To Him let saints and angels raise,
An everlasting song of praise.

No Confidence in the Flesh!
It remains true that in ourselves we have no resting place. It is the quality of the work without (that is, the work of Christ), not the quality of the work within, which satisfies us. “No confidence in the flesh,” must be our motto, as it is the foundation of God's Gospel. --Horatius Bonar
*****
While our efforts to obey God, to be like Christ, and to love our brethren, are in no way any part of the ground of our justification before God, they are without doubt evidences of the genuineness and sincerity of our faith in Christ who is our justification before God. --Copied

Christ is All, and in All
Christ is the only Head of the church, which is His body. Everything in it revolves around Him. All of the promises of God are “in Him.” The person that has Jesus has everything. The person who does not have Jesus has nothing. There are no exceptions. This being true, the greatest blessing you can ever have is to be made one with Christ. --Copied

A Fountain Opened
“In that day there shall be a fountain opened
to the house of David
and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem
for sin and for uncleanness.” (Zechariah 13:1)
It is the conscious absence of all good things that leads us to this fountain of all goodness. It is as unclean and unrighteous that we come to God, not with goodness in our hands as a recommendation, but with the utter want of goodness. Nor do we come with promises of amendment and future goodness and service; but we come to the fountain as unrighteous, unclean, and unable to remove that unrighteousness or offer anything in exchange. The fountain is open to all who thus come. It is closed against all who come on any other footing.
He who comes to the fountain as partly righteous is sent away empty.
He who comes as a guilty sinner to a righteous, yet merciful God, finds not only ready access to the fountain of life, but plenteous grace! The righteous God receives unrighteous men if the sinner presents himself in his own true character as a sinner and does not mock God by pretending to be something LESS or BETTER than this. --Horatius Bonar
