Have you ever watched an eagle in flight? Our church used to hold camps in the backwoods of northern Minnesota, where majestic bald eagles and golden eagles make their home. I always enjoyed watching them soar in flight above the rest of the world below.

God wants us to soar like eagles, especially when we are weary. You say, “But, I’m tired and discouraged.” Remember, the life of a Christian is not a cakewalk, but a battle. And yet, in the midst of the battle our spirits can soar above the nitty-gritty of worry and doubt. Why? Because we are oblivious to the trouble? Dull to the pain? Ignorant of the threat? No, because we have the confidence that Someone bigger is in control.

God has promised to lead and guide and deliver us in times of trouble. And nothing He allows can damage our soul. That knowledge, combined with the power of the Holy Spirit, can lift us up out of the daily doldrums onto higher ground.

In order to soar like the eagle, we must commune with the Creator. The daily crush of life’s affairs can easily crowd our minds and hearts, leaving us without fresh oxygen from the Word. That’s why, above all, we must make God a daily priority.

You can do this by setting aside quiet time every morning or evening, or better yet, both! You can also do this by pausing for short moments to speak with God, sharing your cares, concerns, or praises.

Are you weary today? Remember, you too can soar like an eagle.
