There is hardly a week that goes by that I don’t receive a letter in the mail or hear from a friend, expressing concern and fear about what is happening in the world around us. Christians, it seems, are losing the battle. Our society is becoming more accepting of ungodly lifestyles and more hostile to Biblical beliefs. Should we be worried?

My answer is always that I have never been more excited to be a Christian. Usually, I get strange looks or puzzled replies. Am I mad? Delusional? Can’t I see what is going on in the world around us? Sure, I can, but I also know that Jesus is coming back to take us home.

I firmly believe we are living in what the Bible calls, “the last days.” Technology, trends in culture, the rising rejection of absolute truth, and daily changes in the global economy and government all fit the profile of the end times described long ago in God’s Word.

The believers in Thessalonica were fearful, but the Apostle Paul told them not to worry, because they had a hope far beyond this world. And when he wrote, he was often in a prison cell. But, Paul knew that everything that happened was part of God’s plan. He is not only the ruler, but the over-ruler.

Christian, don’t hang your head, but rejoice because you have hope. In these dark and dangerous times, remember that the light of Jesus illuminates our lives and that His return is soon.
