My Gospel does not bring Christ to the sinner’s feet. It brings the sinner to realize how filthy and corrupt he is before God. It tells the sinner the just retribution of his offenses to the Holy God. It tells him he will never be able to satisfy God’s justice and exalts Christ as the Holy Lamb, put to death on behalf of God’s chosen people, and revealed through Faith. Knowing that only those who are appointed to eternal life will manifest the Faith given by the Spirit through the Word, my Gospel tells the sinner to believe on Christ, renouncing his rebellion against God and rest on the blood and righteousness of Christ alone.

My Gospel is Good News to God’s chosen people. By the Grace of God, they come to realize that they are vile creatures, sinners by nature. They find nothing in themselves that can please God. Their only Hope is Christ alone. They know as Adam’s descendants that they’re completely lost and dead in sin. They desperately cling to Christ, their only Hope. It’s Good News that there’s Hope outside of themselves, in Christ. It’s Good News for those who know that the only thing they deserve is God’s wrath. This is my Gospel, the Gospel of Jesus crucified, that causes me to decrease and Christ to increase.
