Roland Hill said he’d give a half penny for a man’s piety if his dog and his cat were not better off after he was converted. This is amusing, yet it carries a great deal of truth. When Christ becomes your Savior, every aspect of your life should change. No, you won’t grow another inch, lose another pound, or change shoe sizes, but you will experience an internal change.

The power of Christ works from the inside-out. As Christ works within, others will notice changes without—changes in your manner of conversation and in your lifestyle. As followers of Christ, the world doesn’t need to hear that we are Christians, but they do need to see it. We live in a world of empty promises. Today, words hold little value.

When we tell the world about the power of Christ, there must be something that distinguishes our message from the latest trendy slogans and clichés. It is our actions that arrest the world’s attention. Our actions either bring our words to life, or they discredit them.

So how do you measure up against your message? Is there consistency? Are you the same person on Monday that you are on Sunday? Decide today where you will stand—and when you stand, stand firm.

This is reality: the only Jesus the world may ever see could be the Jesus in me.
