A little girl once told me, “My mom is really religious, Pastor.”

I asked, “Why?”

She was very serious as she told me, “Even if she has a cold, she doesn’t ever miss playing Bingo at church.”

Many people are religious—about washing their car, going to work, watching football, etc. While our cars need washing, our jobs need working, and our favorite football teams need watching, God wants to be the greatest Driving Force in our lives. He desires a complete commitment.

In February 2007, there was much hype about the Chicago Bears’ Super Bowl berth—their first since 1985. Fans paid from $400 to $10,000 to purchase tickets for Super Bowl XLI. The game lasted nearly four hours—and it rained heavily throughout the game. Fans were not allowed to bring umbrellas to the game, yet no one complained; they just wanted to see their team play—they were committed to watching that game regardless.

What happens when we have that kind of commitment to our Savior? The Apostle Paul’s commitment brought him through shipwrecks, imprisonment, stoning, and adversities that would test any man’s dedication. Yet he was motivated by God’s divine calling on his life.
