What is sin?
Man calls it an accident, God calls it an abomination.
Man calls it an error, God calls it an enmity.
Man calls it a liberty, God calls it lawlessness.
Man calls it a trifle, God calls it a tragedy.
Man calls it a mistake, God calls it madness.
Man calls it a weakness, God calls it willfulness.

Do you struggle with sin? Re-examine your priority list. It has been said that sin arises when things that are of low priority are pursued as though they were the most important goals in life. When our relationship with God is the number one priority in life, it will regulate all of our other desires. But when the desire for material things, affection, or power takes precedence over our relationship with God, the flesh will stop at nothing to satisfy those desires.

Living to God means dying to self. This means we need to make our relationship with God the main objective of our lives, subordinating all other longings to this goal. Christians can live free from the bondage of sin, walking in “newness of life” as Christ, for we have His grace to enable us to overcome its powerful influence.
