Quite frequently, we hear about people getting extensive facial makeovers. Some insist on having a simple nose job, while others opt for the complete facial treatment. After reconstructive surgery, patients may rant and rave about their new look. But, it won’t help them for very long. Most will have to endure the tedious process all over again once another year adds a new set of wrinkles!

To get to Heaven, however, a physical makeover is insufficient; one must have a complete spiritual makeover. This permanent alteration was provided exclusively by Jesus Christ, when He washed and cleansed us with His blood. He made it possible for man to receive God’s righteousness and secure a position as a child of God. An essential benefit of the spiritual makeover is the presence of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life. As a floodlight directs attention to the building it illuminates, so the Spirit directs the believer to a relationship with God.

Anti-aging products may restore a youthful, wrinkle-free appearance to the skin; however, they must all be renewed to be effective. Once the Christian has received a spiritual makeover, it is permanent, never to fade away.

May we seek to be renewed in our knowledge of Christ, our Example, as He continues to conform us into His image—it’s a makeover we won’t need to do over!
