For some years I have had a desire to add a time where we could "...not neglect the public reading of scripture." As part of what we want to do is build a congregation that knows and is able to apply the scripture to their personal and corporate life, I have longed for the time when others would desire this as well.
Recently, one of our congregation approached us to ask about starting a time for the public reading of the scripture. Praise the Lord! My desire was confirmed by God in the heart of another. So.......
We started a reading time following our Sunday morning services.
Also, recently, we adjusted our meeting time, and there was some confusion as to when the reading time folk would meet, with several coming prior to the morning service. OKAY! We'll meet then also.
Once our Sunday School starts up again in September, we will have just the one reading time, at 9:00 a.m., prior to the Worship service. If there is enough interest, we might even start earlier.
God wants us to desire the word as a babe desires its mothers' milk. Please Lord, bless and increase this desire. Use it to sanctify our hearts and minds before you.
