A frustrated mother was waiting in the checkout line at the grocery store with her three-year-old son, Billy. A woman pushing her husband in a wheelchair came and stood in line behind the mother and son. Before she could distract her son to keep him from saying something awkward, he said to the old man, “Oh, I know how you feel. Sometimes my mom pushes me around in my stroller, too!”

How can we be epic at what we do for God? The first thing is you must be Godly. You need to be a person that is saved, but once you have made that decision to put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ, you need to be Godly. That means, every day you wake up and say, “Lord, by myself I can’t be a good dad, husband, coworker, neighbor, etc.” So, you’re surrendering and walking in the Spirit, and then you’re letting Him empower you.

You’re going to grow if you’re spending time with the Lord by reading His Word. Don’t just feast on Sunday, but make it a daily habit. If you want to be an epic dad, you’re going to have to spend time in the Word of God.

God has accepted you, and you need to accept His love. When you do, you are literally adopted into His family. Everything that He has is yours. It’s incredible what we receive when we are adopted into God’s family.

Another area you’re going to have to spend time is speaking to God. Did you know God gives us direct access?

Can you imagine if the President of the United States told his secretary that whenever you called, they were to put you through, no matter the interruption? That would be amazing. That’s how it is when you are child of God – direct communication with Him at any time. Any moment you can ask Him for help in parenting. You always have a direct line to God. If you’re going to be epic at all that you do, then you will need to use that access you have to your Heavenly Father.
