This morning we continue in our instruction in the ten commandments. We hear now the ten commandment: “You shall not covet…” from the viewpoint of the prophet Isaiah. In chapter 55 of his prophecy is a call to the backsliders and all who are prone to covet. It is a call to cease thirsting after and hankering after all the things of this world—as if in them alone was life. Instead, we are to delight in the abundance of the blessings of the gospel: the things money cannot buy, but which Jesus purchased for us. So that is the positive call of the 10^th commandment, and really of all the law and the prophets: Desire God, and life with God. Cease from the earth. Let your soul delight itself in the abundance of the Lamb of God, our Savior (Isaiah 55:1,2)
