"Called the Sons of God" I John 3:1-3 The apostle Paul is know as the apostle of love. He tells us both positively and negatively regarding the love of God in us and it manifests itself in us to others. It is in our fellowship with each other in that very love even as the world around will hate us as they hate Almighty God. We have the love of Jesus Christ in us, having the knowledge as the Spirit witness' with our spirit and we have fellowship one with another. The world does not know God so we are outcasts among them. We are called, however to be unspotted and told there is a reward.
The apostle wants us to get this concept and starts by saying "behold, what manner of love..." Note that this wording is rarely used in scripture and used only when Jesus was asleep on the boat. He does not simply say "God loves you," but wants us to see the everlasting concept of the Father bestowing His love upon us! We see ourselves born in the flesh, sinners, and unworthy for sure, but, are shown that God loved us even before the foundations of the world that we could be brought back to God in Christ even as His is OUR Father!
See your justification, but always move into sanctification knowing your salvation by faith! We ARE the adopted sons of God and how deep and unfathomable love He has for us. So much so, that He sparred not His own Son for us because He loved us! Those who God loves He calls and He calls us the very sons of God! Those whom God calls (and note when He calls something it becomes the very quality of what God calls it!) And we are called the sons of the most High God. We ARE the children of God now. We do not know what we will become one day in glory! Right now, surrounded by sin we can call Him our Father without any reservation or hesitation and also heirs...joint heirs with our Lord Jesus Christ being partakers with all things and being lifted up in our Lord Jesus Christ! Incomparable can things be in glory. Why would God lay His love upon us wretches sinners? It escapes us....but remember "behold what manner of love has the Father bestowed upon us!" We are children of His NOW!
What a treasure. One that the world does not see or have nor can share in. God has veiled the future, but gives us a glimpse here. We will be like the risen Lord. Incorruptible and made perfect! The Lord has us focus and holds before us the coming of Christ again when the saints will be made perfect with their risen bodies like the Lord with body and soul. And we will know Him as we are known and it goes beyond anything and everything that we can imagine. "Pearly gates with streets of gold!" And we will be robed with Him for eternity! "Behold what love of God" and inheritance we have! We purify ourselves having that hope within us. This hope is not a wish or wishful thinking like the world hopes, but is SURE and it will happen. And this hope will never put us to shame! What a tremendous blessing that God has bestowed on us...sonship! And those who mock us will see it even asking the mountains to cover them when Christ comes again. And we purify ourselves and see everything here below as brief and passing and we look heavenward pulling our stakes daily as well both yearning and walking after the eternal city keeping ourselves unspotted until that day.
"Behold what love has been bestowed upon us." It is an inheritance. One we can't wait to receive!
