Author: James Allen Tune: Come Thou Almighty King (F. de Giardini)
1. Glory to God on High, Let earth and heav'n reply, "Praise ye His name!" His love and grace adore, Who all our sorrows bore; Sing aloud evermore, "WORTHY THE LAMB!"
2. Jesus, our Lord and God, Bore sin's tremendous load! Praise ye His name! Tell what His arm has done, What spoils from death He won, Sing His great name alone, "WORTHY THE LAMB!"
3. While they around the throne Cheerfully join in one, Praising His name! Ye who have seen His blood Sealing your peace with God, Sound His dear name abroad, "WORTHY THE LAMB!"
***** "Blessed is the man whom Thou choosest, and causest to approach unto Thee, that he may dwell in Thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of Thy house, even of Thy holy temple." Psalms 65:4
“But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:” Philippians 2:7
In a world filled with nothings trying to prove themselves to be something in order to advance their own cause and comfort, we are startled that the One who is All in All, equal with God, the Creator of all and Lord of All should empty Himself in order to advance the cause of Another and bring comfort and salvation to those who hated Him. In fact, we cannot really understand it at all, for there is no one else who ever made such a sacrifice as this. No one else could give up so much for no one else ever had so much. The Word, who was from the beginning, was with God and is God, laid aside all His divine rights and powers and lived in our world entirely as a man would. He surrendered His power, for according to His own Word, all the wondrous miracles He did were done, not from His own divine power, but by the anointing of the Spirit of God. He who had existed in pure joy became the Man of Sorrows and acquainted with grief. He who is Lord of All took the form of a servant, and He whom all men should obey became obedient to death, even the death of the cross. Was there ever such a one as this before and has there ever been such a one as this since? If men cannot honor Him for anything else, surely they must honor Him for this! And we who have gained so much by His willing debasement - should not the thought of all He gave up for us move us willingly to give up all for Him? Shall we hold dear our riches, friends, family, comforts and privileges in the face of such selflessness on our behalf? If we were to empty ourselves, we shall have lost nothing. But when Christ emptied Himself, O, how much we gained! –Pastor Joe Terrell
Grace, then, is grace. That is to say, it is sovereign, it is free, it is sure, it is unconditional, and it is everlasting. --Alexander Whyte
Complete atonement Thou hast made And to the utmost farthing paid whate'er Thy people owed; How, then, can wrath on me take place, Now standing in God's righteousness and sprinkled by Thy blood? If Thou hast my discharge procured, And freely in my place endured the whole of wrath divine, Payment God will not twice demand, First at my bleeding surety's hand and then again at mine. --Augustus M. Toplady
A dying saint asked that his name should be put upon his tombstone with the dates of his birth and death, and the one word, "Kept." --Unknown
Religion and Eternal Life - The Difference Romans 8:38-39 “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Religion is to know biblical facts; life is to know God (I John 5:20). Religion is to know what I believe; life is to know Whom I believe (II Timothy 1:12). Religion is to be baptized into the church; Life is to be baptized into Christ (Romans 6:3). Religion is to be reformed, life is to be regenerated (John 3:3). Religion is to be a new convert; life is to be a new creature in Christ (II Corinthians 5:17). A man was asked, "And what is your religious persuasion?" He replied, "I am persuaded that nothing can separate me from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39). --Henry Mahan
