Pastor Steve shares these links to stimulate some Thursday Thoughts...

This week I want to introduce you to a blogger you’re likely not familiar with. His name is Samuel Sey and he writes “Slow to Write”. Here is a trio of his excellent work.

A Nigger and an Uncle Tom … the title is likely to grab your attention. Go ahead and chase your curiosity. Samuel writes: “Black people call me “Uncle Tom” far more than White people call me “nigger”. It’s not White people who use racial slurs against me, it’s Black people. They grumble about me because I am Black but think differently than they do. They say I am a traitor. They say I am a slave to White evangelicals. They give me just as many dirty looks as some White people do when I hold a White woman’s hand. They have made me think less of myself as a Black man than White people ever have.” You can read the rest HERE.

John MacArthur Isn’t That Great … Samuel loves John MacArthur but understands something that each of us should remember – others are greater and more important; our own pastors. Samuel writes: “My pastors invite me into their homes. They even welcome me into their cottages. They are happy to talk to me for several hours on the drives there and back. They pour their lives into mine. John MacArthur doesn’t know my name, my pastors do. MacArthur doesn’t pray for me, my pastors do. MacArthur doesn’t preach to me, my pastors do—every week. They preach the word even though its unpopular to do so. They make difficult phone calls. They baptized me. They correct me. They encourage me. They love me. They know me in ways John MacArthur cannot.” You can read the rest HERE.

Ungrateful for Grace … we can all benefit from this post on prayer. Samuel writes: “For eleven years now, I have been begging God to answer prayers he doesn’t seem to want to answer for me. I used to think that maybe he couldn’t answer me; maybe Satan was stopping him from answering my prayers. Then I learned that God is in the heavens, he does whatever he pleases.” You can read the rest HERE.
