Important Enough to Remake - Jim Scudder Jr.

Today’s Scripture: There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 1 Corinthians 15:40

Our soul and spirit are very important, but so is our body. If our body wasn’t important, then God wouldn’t have created it. God is going to remake our present body, so there must be some importance to it.

Sometimes we tend to wish that our body was different. Some people say that they’re too big, too small, too short, too tall, too skinny, etc. There is always something they would rather be instead of just saying, “Lord, thank you for making me how I am.”

Each and every one of us is “fearfully and wonderfully made.” We need to realize that we are made in the image of God. We ought to be happy with the way He has made us, no matter what our physical limitations may be.

So what is the body? Well, when you are at the funeral of a saved person, the soul and spirit are in Heaven, but the body is in the casket in front of you. The person is still conscious. They are immediately in the presence of the Lord. The body was the shell or the tent of that person’s being. This doesn’t mean that the body is unimportant. We know this because of the bodily resurrection of the Lord.

Because He had a bodily resurrection, we can be certain that we will have a bodily resurrection. God will remake our bodies without the scars of pain, sickness, and even age! We will be bodily with the Lord for eternity. If God cares enough about your body to remake it, then you ought to thank God for the body He has given you. Don’t covet the talents, abilities, or looks of others.

If we die, our resurrection will happen at the time of the Rapture. This is a glorious day in our future. If our body’s reunion with our spirit is a day to look forward to, then don’t be a person who is always complaining about your body. God made you without making a mistake.
