“The Great Satan” – that sounds flattering. This is one of the names given to the United States. This just goes to show there are many people who hate the United States. Generally speaking, the majority of the people who hate our nation come from Islamic countries.

I am not saying that all Muslims are out to kill. I’m not saying that all Muslim’s want to see the United States destroyed. In fact, I love them and want to see them trust Christ as their Savior, and more importantly, God loves each of them so much that He died for them.

That being said, there is a contingent of radical/fundamental Muslims who certainly want to do us great harm. Al-Qaeda and ISIS are just a couple of examples of groups who hate the United States.

I don’t think it’s a big deal to have a temporary halt of immigration so we can vet people. I actually think this is a great idea. Frankly, I don’t understand why so many people have a problem with the ban. As a citizen and as a father, I want our country and my family safe from any threat. However, as a pastor, I must go to the Word of God to see what it has to say about this controversial topic.

As we see in today’s scripture, we must treat the stranger who is inside our borders like they are our family. I will lay out plainly what we ought to do. We must protect our borders and make sure we are not letting anyone in who will do us harm, but those who are already here, who are seeking a better life, who are looking for a country where they can worship freely, we must stand up for them.

Even if you are Muslim, I will fight for your freedom. The freedom for anyone to believe what they want is what made America great. This is what draws people from all countries to us. Because of this, we have many immigrants, and we must follow what God said concerning the stranger. When we love them, we show them real Christianity.
