We are now in our busiest season of the year at Mt. Zion. With the beginning of our weekly soulwinning class that started May 28 and with graduation, church camp, Anniversary Sunday, and Vacation Bible School just around the corner all who serve here are busy pitching in and getting the work done. The Bible says in Nehemiah 8:10 “… for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” This time of the year we need strength so we need to rely heavily on the Lord’s joy.
Our church camp is for those young people who are faithful to Mt. Zion. There are fun activities, swimming, delicious camp food but also great preaching and godly counselors. It is a time of refreshment and fellowship with friends and making new ones. Preparation for camp begins the year before the actual week and takes many hands to lighten this load. Some of the helpers at camp take time off from work to be a part of this ministry.
Vacation Bible School is one of those ministries where it takes the whole church stepping up to do the work. Our VBS is unique in that it is from 9:30 to 12 noon, Monday through Friday. We are blessed with many who can serve at this time of the day. All the work, planning, preparation, and time invested is more than worth it if just one soul accepts Jesus as their Savior.
We just finished a terrific week of revival meetings with Pastor Aaron Samples. The Holy Spirit was working in hearts and lives with decisions being made nightly. We had a great Friend Day with Dr. Randy Starr preaching all day on that Sunday.
Pastor Chris Starr is currently preaching a series on Sunday evenings on Personal Holiness and Wednesdays he is preaching a series out of Ephesians entitled “Be Strong”. Presently he is teaching in Sunday School on “The Renewed Mind”. Each of these can be heard on Sermon Audio.
Many here at MZBC are busy serving the Lord and have a mind to work just as in Nehemiah 4:6, “So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.” There is always work to do and souls to reach whether they are our family members, neighbors, or children that ride the church bus. Our focus for this summer is “Family Visitation” with our outreach being our neighbors.
We are a church that is busy working for the Lord. John 9:4 “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”
