The Ascension! To most of the church world the ascension of the Lord is a minor celebration compared to all the others. The Old Testament with the blood on the sacrifice that the scape goat signified as it points to the importance of the ascension of our Lord. We want to emphasize those things that we believe by faith and cannot see! Where our narrative leaves off we start.
Christ enters into the Holy Place for us to appear in the presence for us. He did NOT enter in the Holy of Holies even though He WAS the PRIEST of God and Holy of Holy!?! The old testament was only the picture and copies of the real. That Holy of Holies was only a picture of the fulfillment of things. The reality was Christ. The only thing the in the Holy of Holies was the ark representing the presence of God in His Holiness, judgment, wrath against sin, and His justice. The Lord in His glory now enters into the presence of God! Having attained redemption He now enters the most Holy of houses....the presence of the Living God! He does not enter as the priest in the old testament with blood, but enters BECAUSE of His blood as He was the sacrifice and atonement.
The old had a covering of sin. In the new dispensation it was from the perspective of a complete blotting out and obliteration of sin! While all the blood of bulls and goats could not cover any sin, Christ enters the Holy place having obtained and covered ALL sin being the sacrifice in front of God. Full Atonement!
Then, there was no Christ, but NOW our Lord Jesus Christ appears being the FULL atonement! RIGHT NOW in the midst of this life, this death and decay, He sits a the right hand of God RIGHT NOW. And He did that for you! For me! This is the truth we take hold of and know that it is FACT! We cannot get away from sin, yet now we have our High Priest (Christ) who is our advocate, propitiation, atonement, and assurity whereby He presents HIS righteousness before God for us! Is this why we pray for Jesus' sake "who is the lamb of God for sinners slain" and who makes continual intercession for us as we are sons and daughters of the living God?!
We already have our flesh in glory. The same Spirit leads us in our new and holy life until we get there. We have an advocate in Christ people!
