Most of us have had a life full of appointments to meet. As a pastor, I had many of them to meet and I always tried to keep them. I always tried to be on time for one, or just a little early. I never thought the Lord was very happy with a man who always came dragging up late. But in spite of all my efforts to keep them as promised, every once in a while sickness or some providential hindrance would cause me to miss one.

In our senior years most of us have a great amount of doctor and hospital appointments to keep. A Christian should be faithful along these lines, and even be patient when we have to wait on the busy doctor and nurses who are working under great pressure.

The Bible says we all have an appointment to meet and we will not miss it or be late. We will have to face that unwanted appointment of death. We may not be ready for it, we may not want it, we may not expect it when it comes, but we better be prepared for it. It might come very unexpected, but it is sure to come. Hebrews 9:27, “And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” So you see, you have an appointment with death. You will not postpone it, you cannot miss it, you are sure to keep it.
