Today while reading, I read where God spoke to David about the expiration of his days. 1st Chronicles 17:11, "When thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers."
As I read this passage, it seems to me to read as if they days of David's life are predetermined. It appears that God has set the length of David's life.
Now, we know that is the case. Know unto God are all His works from the beginning. Acts 15:18 God has decreed all that shall happen upon this earth. He established His decrees before the foundation of the world, before He created.
Knowing this fact, do you think David was more confident in life? I think he was. Knowing that God has set the boundaries of his life, David can know that no aribitrary events will effect him. He can know that his life is not out of control, even though humanly speaking it may appear to be.
We can have this same confidence. Each of our lives fit within the preordained plan of God. I believe he has set the boundaries for all of our lives. This is why Psalms 90:12 reads, "teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." We can know that God has set a time for us. No matter what events which happen in our lives, the boundaries of our lives are set. So, let's learn to number our days. Let's learn to take full advantage of the days God has given us. Let's not be worried about the events of life and how they might affect our lives. Let's simply trust God, walk with Him, do His will. We need to let Him worry about the number of our days. We need have the confidence that our days are numbered, and have the confidence that nothing can touch us that God doesn't allow.
Yes, one day our days will be expired. However, that day will not come before the day God says it will. Use the days you have to bring glory and honor to the One who gave you your days.
