WE THANK GOD FOR FRIENDS

Rev. A.J. Ogden

Most of us enjoy a good number of acquaintances in life, but there is a big difference between a casual acquaintance and one who is really a friend. We all know a number of folks by name and they are sometimes very friendly, but they are not really your friend. A real friend will go out of his way to help you when you have trouble because he really loves you. A friend in need is truly a friend in deed. Scripture tells us in Proverbs 17:17, “A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”

My wife, Ruth Pauline, had open heart surgery a few weeks ago. She is now slowly recovering, but still might have to get a pace maker. During the time of her sickness I had some problems also, a minor surgery for in growing toe nails, and even a case of gout. When it rains it pours, say the old folks.

But today I want to take this opportunity to say “thanks” to my kids from Tennessee and Georgia who came in and out to help us. Some helped us for days, leaving their jobs and families. Others made sacrifices to drive forty miles to cut my grass. Others sat with us during my wife’s surgery-a whole room full of them. Thanks to all who prayed for us, even sending us gifts of food. Some called to pray, some prayed at home for us. Thanks for all the cards and letters of encouragement. Some could not be here, but we know you prayed and we thank God for you. You have all blessed our lives.

I pray that God will bless you with good health now and always. I do not know what the future holds, but I know who holds my future in His hands. If you have never been saved, I pray that you will be very soon. There is danger in delay.
