This resolution of Daily United Prayer is based on An Humble Attempt, originally put forward by Jonathan Edwards in 1748. Its design is to encourage God's people in the duty of united extraordinary prayer; setting aside some time every day to pray for the revival of His church and the advancement of Christ's kingdom in our homes, in our churches, in our nation, and in the world.
"And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people." 2 Chronicles 17:9.
Many of you continue to pray for us and the work of SermonAudio. I released another video that highlights the good work that our 4 interns have been doing. I'm thankful for the opportunity to be working with these young people. A big part of what I seek to do is to provide some spiritual influence in our weekly staff meetings.
One such staff meeting, we talked about King Jehoshaphat and the work that he did in appointing the princes and Levites to go throughout all the cities of Judah to teach the people everywhere out of the book of the law of the Lord. Essentially, they went everywhere teaching and preaching the Gospel as found in the first five books of the law -- because the Gospel is most assuredly there from Genesis to Deuteronomy in living color!
What I didn't get to mention in the video is that the RESULT of such an effort was that the fear of God fell upon the surrounding kingdoms. I find that fascinating because the teaching was directed to the cities of Judah. I take that to mean that when the whole counsel of God's Word is faithfully declared to God's own people, the effects will be felt on even the surrounding heathen lands. Over the centuries, as the "book of the law of the Lord" has gone into darkened nations, they have consistently been transformed.
This is our prayer as we continue to broadcast faithful preaching all around the world -- that God's Word will not return void.
