This resolution of Daily United Prayer is based on An Humble Attempt, originally put forward by Jonathan Edwards in 1748. Its design is to encourage God's people in the duty of united extraordinary prayer; setting aside some time every day to pray for the revival of His church and the advancement of Christ's kingdom in our homes, in our churches, in our nation, and in the world.
Jamie and I had the joy of being with Bill Welzien yesterday as he conducted his open-air outreach at Mallory Square in Key West, Florida. We started with a brief prayer meeting before starting and then he preached two 20-minute messages (with a break in between) using an easel board behind him for visual aid. It seems to be very effective as it also gives him more of a "presence" on a busy pier.
The thing that impresses me the most about our brother Bill is the fact that he has been doing this kind of open-air evangelism for the past 36 years, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
You can see a bit of the actual preaching in clips here and here.
If you have not heard of Bill Welzien, I recommend that you watch this video of him to become acquainted with his testimony.
Pray for Rick Cross as he travels to NYC to minister alongside another Bill (Jones) in a very different context. Bill in NYC does evangelistic outreach in the urban jungle of NYC. Bill in Key West does evangelistic outreach in the southernmost tip of America.
