This resolution of Daily United Prayer is based on An Humble Attempt, originally put forward by Jonathan Edwards in 1748. Its design is to encourage God's people in the duty of united extraordinary prayer; setting aside some time every day to pray for the revival of His church and the advancement of Christ's kingdom in our homes, in our churches, in our nation, and in the world.
"These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren." Acts 1:14.
I enjoyed having breakfast with both Rick and Keith this morning. Keith has been attending our prayer calls just recently and it was refreshing to hearing how God has been blessing him through these times of united prayer. Sometimes I can grow dull to the blessings that are to be found in what we are doing day by day. The Lord sends people into our lives from time to time like a cup of cold water in a dry desert in order to re-align our thinking and revive our spirits. A bit like how Jonathan had his "eyes enlightened" when he took a taste of the honey after being faint all day. The verse above reminds me of what we are doing in these times of daily prayer. "These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication." THESE ALL refers to the diversity of the group. CONTINUED refers to the perseverance exhibited. WITH ONE ACCORD refers to the unity that they enjoyed. And, IN PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION refers to the activity enjoined. Let us all continue, like the early church, with one accord to pray and offer up our supplications. We shall reap if we faint not.
I've uploaded the next video update on The Vault project where I stress the importance of securing our own infrastructure to protect our ability to broadcast the offensive message of the Gospel without risk of cancellation by cloud providers. We're taking it one step at a time. I covet your prayers for God to keep my heart closed up to His purposes in this entire project. Don't let the video fool you, I am acutely feeling my insufficiency and weakness in it all.
