United Prayer Journal // DAY 147
This resolution of  Daily United Prayer  is based on An Humble Attempt, originally put forward by Jonathan Edwards in 1748. Its design is to encourage God's people in the duty of united extraordinary prayer; setting aside some time every day to pray for the revival of His church and the advancement of Christ's kingdom in our homes, in our churches, in our nation, and in the world.
"He that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David." Zech 12:8.

I want to leave with you a fragment of a verse for your meditation. It's a wonderful little promise that can easily be overlooked. Think of it. He that is feeble among them shall be as David. This is referring to us—we are the feeble. David, on the other hand, was the one who slew Goliath. He was a mighty man of valor and a man after God's own heart. The sweet Psalmist of Israel whose many prayers are recorded for us in the Psalms. But here's the point that we should not miss. These are not just David's prayers—these are our prayers too! Have you not found that time and time again you can take any Psalm of David and rehearse every verse and every line as your very own prayer? This verse tells us that he that is feeble among them shall be as David at that day. How is this possible? I believe the key is what we read later on in verse 10, "I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications." All throughout the chapter we see references to "that day." What day is this? I believe we are living in "that day." For it says in Zechariah 13:1, "In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness." What DAY could this possibly be referring to but THE DAY that Christ defeated death itself? We are still living in the power of that great day. Friend, though you feel yourself to be very feeble, this verse tells us in so many words that "he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David." The same spirit of grace and supplications that was poured out upon David is also available to us as well. Do you believe this? May God enable us to pray and live in that promised victory.
