This resolution of Daily United Prayer is based on An Humble Attempt, originally put forward by Jonathan Edwards in 1748. Its design is to encourage God's people in the duty of united extraordinary prayer; setting aside some time every day to pray for the revival of His church and the advancement of Christ's kingdom in our homes, in our churches, in our nation, and in the world.
Late last night, I received a text message from a man that will be helping us set up our SermonAudio Lab on the campus of Bob Jones University. He made the comment that John Rogers was his 14th great grandfather. I was amazed to hear that. What a wonderful turn of providence. The individual who will be assisting us in perpetuating the spread of great preaching around the world is the descendent of the man who, under God, gave to the English-speaking world its first complete Bible. There's no greater privilege than to be involved in God's kingdom work. His kingdom is for ever and we follow a long line of godly men who have gone before us. May He strengthen our hands in this good work.
"Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work." Nehemiah 2:18.
After receiving that text message, I remembered hearing this clip from Dr. Steven Lawson regarding John Rogers and William Tyndale. May it encourage you today as it did me! I love his figures of speech by the way. "Pour concrete down our spine. Nail our feet to the floor. Stop being a tumbleweed and start being an oak tree. Stop flying with the turkeys but soar with the eagles!"
I received this encouraging email from Nozipho in South Africa:
When I joined this prayer group it was out deep spiritual despair. I had moved to where I live and work and therefore joined a new church which had an almost non-existent corporate praying (poorly attended). It was a very desperate situation for me and then Zelda told me about the UP and I started attending in December '20.
It is with immense joy that today I am letting you know that we had a church meeting where new ministries were introduced and one of them being: LADIES PRAYER MINISTRY!!! All glory to God! He is awakening the sleeping church indeed!
Many thanks to all who continue to labour in prayer for the great revival!
God is working! Let's pray with heightened expectation that God will work His greatest work yet. Friends, the greatest days of the church are in front of us. I believe this with all my heart. Let us rise up and build!
