Exorcism: Increasingly frequent, including after US protests
In popular culture, exorcism often serves as a plot device in chilling films about demonic possession. This month, two Roman Catholic archbishops showed a different face of exorcism – performing the rite at well-attended outdoor ceremonies to drive out any evil spirits lingering after acrimonious protests.

The events’ distinctive character gave a hint of how exorcism — with roots in ancient times — has evolved in some ways as it becomes more commonplace in many parts of the world.

In Portland, Oregon, Archbishop Alexander Sample led a procession of more than 200 people to a city park on Oct. 17, offered a prayer, then conducted a Latin exorcism rite intended to purge the community of evil. The event followed more than four months of racial justice protests in Portland, mostly peaceful but sometimes fueling violence and riots. ...

I thought the Antifa protesters merely an idea, and were peaceful in their intent, and ironically the Jesuits want law to be abided and community order.

Today at my Baptist Church during Adult Sunday School was Part 2 of Church History(The Medieval Church). Then during worship the sermon was given by Associate Pastor Neil and was titled "Finding Your Place in the Family" from Romans 8:14-15. The sermon was about how all those who have received Jesus as their Lord and Savior become adopted children of God.

I agree that satan will not cast his demons out of anyone, but he can pretend to do so and lure cultural Christians to believe they are serving our Lord and Savior. My guess is the term catholic is synonymous with Christianity in 99% of the world today. To say otherwise brands you as hateful and judgmental. I was raised catholic and during that time, no catholic said they were Christians, but catholic. And now look!

Matthew 12:26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

To be saved two things must happen. You must first believe in Christ and love Him once you know him and to say no Catholics at all have those two things is just crazy.

Modern Christianity tends to pay mere lip service to the existence and malicious intent of the devil and devils. This is just one reason why it has become so weak and ineffective.

In this case, there is no biblical warrant for attempting to sweep a whole community of evil spirits; it is a mere show, similar to what the charismatics do at their 'healing' meetings, or 'fall to the floor' meetings.

Jamieson, Fausset, and Brown Bible Commentary wrote:
13. vagabond Jews—simply, "wandering Jews," who went from place to place practicing exorcism, or the art of conjuring evil spirits to depart out of the possessed. That such a power did exist, for some time at least, seems implied in Mt 12:27. But no doubt this would breed imposture; and the present case is very different from that referred to in Lu 9:49, 50....

Barnes New Testament Notes wrote:
Exorcists. εξορκιστων. This word properly denotes those who went about pretending to be able to expel evil spirits, or to cure diseases by charms, incantations, etc, The word is derived from ορκος orkos, an oath, and from ορκιζω, to bind with an oath. It was applied in this sense, because those who pretended to be able to expel demons used the formula of an oath, or adjured them, to compel them to leave the possessed persons. Comp. Mt 12:27. They commonly used the name of God, or called on the demons in the name of God to leave the person. Here they used the name Jesus to command them to come out....
