Students Majoring In Marijuana At Colleges
Colleges are now adding cannabis to their curriculum. Grace DeNoya is used to getting snickers when people learn she’s majoring in marijuana.

“My friends make good-natured jokes about getting a degree in weed,” said DeNoya, one of the first students in a new four-year degree program in medicinal plant chemistry at Northern Michigan University. “I say, ‘No, it’s a serious degree, a chemistry degree first and foremost. It’s hard work. Organic chemistry is a bear.'”

As a green gold rush in legal marijuana and its non-drug cousin hemp spreads across North America, a growing number of colleges are adding cannabis to the curriculum to prepare graduates for careers cultivating, researching, analyzing and marketing the herb. ...

Neil,if he was into zen buddhism, why would that be inconsistent with the characteristics to which you ascribe to him?
Buddhists are lost too and pot users are lost in space.

People tout Jobs as a success story, but by all accounts, the man was an nasty, abusive "son of a perverse, rebellious woman." Hardly consistent with the Zen Buddhism he espoused, but to be fair, I see a lot of such hypocrisy among Christians too. The more noise they make, the more wary I am of them.

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many and in Horseman because they are very strong, but they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord!

I used medical marijuana in my youth. I used it to cure prosperity, rationality and initiative—just like the yahoos in Colorado are using it.

good to hear this lol...Alternative medicine are more accepted now a days due to it's promising results unlike pharmaceutical medicine, alternative medicine don't give negative effect such as kidney and liver problems when it comes to long term use. As for my alternative medicine usage, I use medical marijuana. Different strain has a variety of uses and effect depending on your needs. check this one

College students have been majoring in marijuana for at least fifty years. They’re just now getting credit for it.

What is happening in Colorado? Why hasn't anyone been doing research studies that show legalizing it there has led to negative consequences? I would think PBS would focus their Frontline documentary program on this.
I guess they are too busy thinking of ways to explain how a day-old baby is not really a baby, so it is OK to abort them.

Well, J, I certainly wouldn't want anyone using it to be operating a vehicle around me or operating on me in surgery, to name a few. Are we at the point that we can't figure out that things which control or dull our faculties aren't beneficial for us ? There is the principle of giving intoxicants and anesthesia to those in need but do we really need another drug legalized for "health" reasons? There are a lot of things in the world which exist naturally that are poisonous or dangerous to humans but one wouldn't advocate their use. I still haven't figured out what is beneficial about tobacco or alcohol. God has allowed the existence of the thorns and venom as a consequence of sin. We live in a fallen world. There will be no intoxicants in Heaven or on the new Earth.
Further,if smoking is detrimental to the lungs, how could smoking pot be any different?

J4J, I am aware of cannabis extracts that do not contain THC, but too often even medical marijuana legalization was about smoking the whole leaf. One only need to look to Colorado for what this plant's use can become, and the situation there is not at rock bottom yet.

Yes, the Lord did make all things and made them for Himself. Colossians 1 pertains. While all things were made good before the Fall, I believe that the Lord's purpose for these kinds of recreational drugs was to stand as an example of what not to do. And people tendency, thanks to our fallen natures, to seek out that which will destroy ourselves. May the Lord lead us, collectively and individually, from these paths.

Quiet Christian...

People don’t overdose on Marijuana yet, although they will probably make a strain strong enough one day that you could. It was made by God and is beneficial for some uses, it isn’t necessarily sinful. It depends on how it is used.

Organic chemistry isn't so bad, especially when you're not sampling your study materials. I always thought of chemistry as God's Legos He uses to put the universe together. The details of how atoms interact to form specific molecules remains one of the coolest things to me and brings me to worship the One True God who put the system in place and sustains it for His own glory, a glory He will share with another.

Seriously...this can't be serious. Degrees in cannabis? If they wanted to something worthwhile, they should gain EMT certification to address overdoses instead. Just another way the Left is trying to legitimize sin.
