Pelosi Is Spending Shutdown at Hawaii Resort
Pelosi, who has put blame squarely on President Donald Trump for the current government shutdown, was spotted Thursday vacationing in Hawaii at the Fairmont Orchid resort, where room accommodations range from $899-a-night for a standard room to $4,899-a-night for the presidential suite.

Trump canceled his Christmas trip to Florida and remained in the White House, saying on Christmas Eve that he was "waiting for the Democrats to come back and make a deal." The president left the White House on Christmas to travel to Iraq and meet with American troops stationed overseas.

Trump has been holding work meetings since Congress went into recess, including one with Department of Homeland Security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen on how to fund the administration's border security plan. ...

Oh, I'm certain that there will be reprocussions, just like when the government takes over the land of a landowner to build a road using imminent domain, but having been to Juarez from El Paso and back, there was an official border crossing gate system. These towns and cities have official border crossings along with an elaborate fence system. Have you ever crossed into Mexico, Jim? What are you envisioning, a moat filled with allidiles or crocagators?

It would be much cheaper for America if she would spend the rest of her life in Hawaii.

Sometimes, the BBC can really come up with good stuff. This article is one of those‚Ěó

6. US and Mexican border towns rely on each other

Sealing off the border would also affect the economies of border towns and affect the wider US-Mexican economy - something many US politicians would be keen to avoid.

Communities along the US side of the border have developed close and dependant economic relationships with their sister cities in Mexico. Many Mexican towns are home to US factories employing thousands of people and Mexican shoppers spend billions of dollars in US border states every year....

A lot of Republicans may want to impeach Trump if he tries to close the border.

This article also gives some information on the Bush jr. wall, something that you might be interested in QC?

QC, it's not just me that think the Great Wall of Trump is foolish, but some Texas towns and at least one Indian reservation as well. There are some obvious differences between the Israeli/ Egyptian 100+ mile fence and a 2,000 mile Trump wall, besides those mentioned above but even the goofy Wall could be improved‚Ěó

A virtually impenetrable fence quickly and cheaply built by Israel to keep terrorists and thousands of unwanted refugees out is fast becoming a model for President Trump's wall as lawmakers begin to look for funding the top campaign promise of the 2016 election....

At the same time, Jim, a leader leads from the front, not as far away from DC as one can get and still be in the States. While she certainly is in communication with colleagues back in DC, this is a bad optic.

Not a fan of walls, are you? This has been proposed since Bush 43. Southwest border security has been a topic of much discussion in the wake of 9/11. At some point, someone is going to have to do something about the border. It has been many years since those raids into Texas by Poncho Villa, and we remain vulnerable.

Sounds like a smart move on Nancy's part. She can't do anything. She's not the speaker of the house yet and it's up to Trump to give up this nonsense about the wall. So a nice vacation in Hawaii sounds like a smart move.
Chris Kahn, Ginger Gibson wrote:
The shutdown was triggered by Trump’s demand, largely opposed by Democrats and some lawmakers from his own Republican Party, that taxpayers provide him with $5 billion to help pay for a wall that he wants to build along the U.S.-Mexico border. Its total estimated cost is $23 billion.

Just 35 percent of those surveyed in the opinion poll said they backed including money for the wall in a congressional spending bill. Only 25 percent said they supported Trump shutting down the government over the matter....
