Italy to Promote Display of Crucifix, Nativity Scene in Classrooms
The crucifix and nativity cribs are symbols of Italian history, tradition, and faith, so it “is right that they are displayed in the classroom”, the Education Ministry has stressed, after it emerged that some schools were blocking Christmas displays “out of respect for other cultures”.

“For me, the crucifix is a symbol of our history, our culture, our traditions,” education minister Marco Bussetti said, telling a meeting of 180 teachers and school leaders from across the country he believed the same to be true for Christmas trees and nativity displays at this time of year.

Speaking at the Federation of Catholic Schools’ annual congress in Rome on Thursday, the minister — an independent who has taught in schools and universities during his long career in education — said he could not understand why some headteachers and school administrators feel the display of Christian cultural markers in ...

John, if it is a misrepresentation of Christ...it is.
And,of course,it is.

Owning a Crucifix or picture of Jesus is not in violation of the Second Commandment if one does not bow down to or pray to those items. My Baptist Pastor does not have a problem that I still own a Crucifix and a picture of Jesus.

Good comment from Italy, Philip.
I wonder what percentage of the people there say they believe in God, yet do not attend any church regularly. I would guess 90 percent say they believe in God, but only 3 percent are evangelical, faithful in their attendance at weekly services.

They won't be displaying the ashes...

They threw them in the rivers...

But their memories are not gone. Their souls in heaven are living witnesses against the atrocities of the Catholic Church.

No doubt Dr Tim that if the RCC found itself in a place of political they would resort to the same methods you describe.

I wonder if Spain will display the rack, whip and gallows as symbols of their history and devotion to Catholicism?

Traditions, relics, symbols and man made creeds and doctrines do not make a person right with God. Only Jesus Christ can do that. When thinking that I grew up in a nominal Catholic family, even attending a private Catholic school, I am grateful to God that he had mercy on my soul.

Exodus 32:7.
Thy people-have corrupted themselves] They had not only got into the spirit of idolatry, but they had become abominable in their conduct, so that God disowns them to be his: THY people have broken the covenant, and are no longer entitled to my protection and love.

This is one pretence that the Roman Catholics have for the idolatry in their image worship. Their high priest, the pope, collects the ornaments of the people, and makes an image, a crucifix, a madonna, &c. The people worship it; but the pope says it is only to keep God in remembrance. But of the whole God says, Thy people have corrupted themselves; and thus as they continue in their idolatry, they have forfeited the blessings of the Lord's covenant. They are not God's people, they are the pope's people, and he is called "our holy father the pope."
