Parents who question kids' trans activism face investigation
Questioning a child’s ventures into transsexuality can earn his or her parents an investigation by social services, according to the recommendations from a town council in the United Kingdom.
A report in the Telegraph reveals that a “toolkit” offered by the Brighton and Hove City Council suggests that moms and dads who also dismiss a “gender questioning” child’s request for a name change are a big problem.
The council’s guidance “advises teachers on how to handle a number of different scenarios, including if parents say: ‘I refuse to allow my son to change his name or wear skirts,'” the report says.
“If a setting has a significant concern about the child’s wellbeing and or safety in relation to how the parents or carers are managing the exploration of the child’s gender identity it may be necessary and advisable to follow safeguarding procedures,” schools are told....
