Pastors Pledge Civil Disobedience If Supreme Court Redefines Marriage
A number of prominent pastors and lay leaders have signed a petition pledging civil disobedience if a U.S. Supreme Court decision redefining marriage to include same-sex couples infringes upon their religious freedom.

"Experience and history have shown us that if the government redefines marriage to grant a legal equivalency to same-sex couples, that same government will then enforce such an action with the police power of the State. This will bring about an inevitable collision with religious freedom and conscience rights. The precedent established will leave no room for any limitation on what can constitute such a redefined notion of marriage or human sexuality. We cannot and will not allow this to occur on our watch. Religious freedom is the first freedom in the American experiment for good reason," the pledge states, in part.

At press time, over 42,000 had signed the "Pledge in Solidarity to ...

Good overview of Mather:a life of faith in early America: sets the stage for this type of Pastoral refusal to concede to evil.

I think the current sodomite flood is a lot like the demonic invasion that Mather fought:

Eph. 6:11,12
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

pastors should read the book from the gentleman in Nebraska who went to jail to protest the taking of his Christian school. Judge sat down with him the third time in prison to say.... look at your property, it was so and so church, corporation. he asked who owns the corporation, Jesus Christ or the state?
and of course it was the state because... they had signed away Christ's church to the state when they incorporated.

Worth considering

Was there an attempt to overthrow Rome by the moralists and ethnic Jews of that day which resulted in a massive slaughter of them? Of course, rejection of Christ (WHO he is and WHAT he came to accomplish) caused them to take matters into their own carnal hands. They engaged in civil disobedience. They took up a "cause" just as people do today in attempts to have things go their desired way while proclaiming "grace", "grace," it is by "grace." But they keep WORKING and planning ways to usher in God's plan for man.
I am aware that the prophesy was fulfilled in the destruction of the temple made with human hands. A greater one than the temple had arrived and was rejected.
I didnt understand where you were going with this, I thought perhaps you were contrasting The Bar Kokhba revolt with the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD

Not okay by me, Mike. Brother, we would need to choose a different day, for a total separation. There are deep reasons for this.

I gotta go.

Wow! You can almost see God removing his hand of restraint from the hearts of men at an accelerated rate, to turn total depravity more and more into utter depravity.
Hab.3:2 - O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.

I guess alongside needs be defined. So it would be ok if we stood separately on the other side of the street then? Or on the other side of the block? Is there a distance factor to be considered? I'm trying to discover what the line is in practical, not philosophical terms.

Didn't something like this happen around 70AD when thousands of people, the moral majority and self righteous Jews, resisted Rome? This uprising resulted in the slaughter of thousands upon thousands of people. I am not good with historical facts. So please help me out.
The Gospel of God's dear Son is the power of God unto salvation. The judgment of God should be put in minds of hearers in every message.

No idea who your comment was aimed at Mike, but let me give you my thoughts. OF COURSE NOT! What I will say is I shouldn't enter into a moral agreement with a practicing catholic regarding a particular issue. People can of course agree on an issue and not form a moral bond in that agreement. IOW, If a catholic says that abortion is wrong, of course I would agree with that. But if I say I and my catholic brothers and sisters agree that abortion is wrong, then that is ECUMENICAL. It is when someone lends some type of spiritual credence to a false religion that we cross the line. "What has light to do with darkness"? Let me ask you a question; should a Christian pastor stand up and say that homosexuality is wrong and my Muslim or Mormon brothers and sisters agree with this issue. My guess is you will quickly say "no".

Let's see if I get this right. If Catholics say such and such is evil and isn't acceptable, evangelicals cannot do so, because that is compromise. Therefore evangelicals cannot call evil, evil unless Catholics don't. Is that about it?
