Dallas-area churches hope to capitalize on Super Bowl Sunday
Doubt the clout of the Super Bowl? Consider that First Baptist Church of Dallas is taking the rare step of canceling Sunday evening worship so members can gather and watch the game.
With the Feb. 6 extravaganza in nearby Arlington, the Rev. Robert Jeffress decided to open the church for young people to have a Super Bowl watching party and to encourage other members to stay home for their own such events.
But First Baptist also will give its members DVDs to play at halftime, promoting preaching at the church the following Sunday by former Florida State University football coach Bobby Bowden....
