A new wave of Iraqi Christians has fled to northern Iraq or abroad amid a campaign of violence against them and growing fear that the country’s security forces are unable or, more ominously, unwilling to protect them.
The flight — involving thousands of residents from Baghdad and Mosul, in particular — followed an Oct. 31 siege at a church in Baghdad that killed 51 worshipers and 2 priests and a subsequent series of bombings and assassinations singling out Christians. This new exodus, which is not the first, highlights the continuing displacement of Iraqis despite improved security over all and the near-resolution of the political impasse that gripped the country after elections in March....
I have to wonder what *sorts* of Christianity exist in Iraq? The author frequently alludes to sacerdotalism, which is not encouraging.
Now I'm all in favor of religious liberty for all, & bemoan the treatment they've received, but let's not hastily assume they are our spiritual fellow-travelers, either. Surely Fundies & separatists here would not suspend their principles in order to lambaste US foreign-policy as anti-Christian. If it is wrong, it is wrong regardless of what victims believe.
I saw and other article about this problem, a very good opinion piece,]]Iraq's war on Christians. The United States wasn't even defending these groups, apparently too worried about oil supplies.
When have we been as good as Isaiah 62:6 "...ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth."? but this people are near perfection for a new apocalypse, in a repeat of similar situations, as in Jeremiah 7:28 "truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth." Now behold the ephah full of reproofs in the very land of Shinar, for the old lessons were not taken to heart.
To those of us who are ashamed for all that has been done (Ezek.43:11), and only then, will the LORD show the fashion, forms, goings, comings, ordinances, laws of the house, which measure we ourselves are expected to fill and make up.
Pro.24:27 "Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house."
- so is preaching the Gospel among every creature alienated from the commonwealth of Israel (of which Christ is King) to be treated. But as long as the helps and presbytery are scattered from observing those things which are first, second, and third in the order of requirements (1 Cor.12:28), then are God's chosen still scattered, and the form and effect of the Early Church will still be in waiting.

True ironies are rarely predictable.
The persecution of Iraqi Christians was predicted prior to the Blair-Bush invasion and their Islamic state "nation building". They invaded anyway.
Rejoice and be thankful every time you pass a bookshop this Christmas that they have both moved on to flogging their memoirs.
