A recent survey suggests two-thirds of people see a connection between the message of the church and suicide among homosexual youth.
But Alan Wisdom, vice president of The Institute on Religion & Democracy (IRD), points out that the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI), the organization that conducted the poll, "is a group that is set up to advance liberal causes in the church and in politics."

Wisdom explains that the PRRI starts with the truth -- that most religions consider and preach that homosexual conduct is a sin -- but "they then draw a causal link or imply a causal link that somehow the suicides of gay and lesbian youth are to be attributed to the fact that Christian churches and other religious groups disapprove of their behavior."...
