HE'S almost 84, has spent his life in the public eye and is now the oldest Member of the House of Commons. Married for more than five decades, he's a great-grandfather, Privy Councillor and prolific writer who also devours books.
But anyone who thought Ian Paisley's resignation as DUP leader and First Minister almost two years ago would signal the start of anything like a traditional retirement misjudged the veteran preacher-politician's desire to remain active, albeit more removed from the limelight.
"I've more time on my hand to do work more thoroughly," he says. "You're not doing it so good when the pressure's on you - you can do too much.
"I really did too much in my day. I was up early at the scraich o' day, bed at scraich o' night, it's tough going. But I'd always good health and I think of course at the weekend coming to the spiritual."...
