New Zealanders have voted overwhelmingly to bring back smacking, two years after the country became the first in the world to make it illegal to hit children.
Early results from a national referendum show that at leat 80% of New Zealanders are in favour of repealing the controversial 2007 legislation that bans parents from using force to discipline their children.
The results reflect polling which has consistently indicated that a vast majority of New Zealanders have been against the legislation since it was introduced.
