A powerful earthquake struck southwest China Monday, killing at least 107 people and injuring dozens. This total does not appear to include any of the nearly 900 students also feared buried in a collapsed high school. China's State Seismological Bureau reported the magnitude 7.8 quake was centered about 90 km northwest of Sichuan's provincial capital of Chengdu in Wenchuan county, which is famous for the Wolong panda-breeding center.
China's official news agency Xinhua did not detail where the 107 deaths occurred, although it reported earlier that four students were killed and 110 hurt when a three-story school building had partially collapsed in Dujiangyan city, and parents watched as cranes attempted to free the trapped students....
